+ 3 - 6 | § Amtrak's Board Decides to Split
-- Freedom for the Boston-Washington Corridor

On October 14th, the Amtrak board of directors agreed to split the Boston-Washington corridor from the rest of their service, according to USAToday.  The decision is pending US Congress approval, which may or may not happen.  So far this year Amtrak survived, as the Congress approved fully funding them with over $1 Billion USD in government subsidies (which are not that bad, but I would prefer the government to pay for rails, and let Amtrak take care of their operations all by itself.  This would be a subsidy similar to the government taking care of roads, and allowing bus service to take care of themselves).
